The New England Green River Marathon is one of the most scenic races in New England. Running along the mostly wooded banks of the Green River, from Marlboro College in Vermont to Greenfield Community College in Massachusetts, the rolling, downhill course features a net 1,450-foot drop. If you like small, rural, community races through some of the most beautiful landscape in New England, then this is the marathon for you. This race raises funds for the Connecticut River Conservancy’s efforts to preserve and clean-up the Green River, one of the many tributaries that flow into the Connecticut River, and also supports the Sugarloaf Mountain Athletic Club’s activities in the Pioneer Valley.

The Pioneer Valley Roller Derby is an amateur athletic non-profit organization established in early 2006 with the mission to organize, promote, and advance the sport of flat track roller derby in and beyond Western Massachusetts.

It is the first flat track roller derby league to offer both women's and men's teams, and also the first league to offer an all- and no-gender team. For over a decade, they've been working to set a precedent for inclusion while fostering athleticism and sporting competition.

The Green River Festival is Western Massachusetts' signature summer event. For one weekend every July, Greenfield Community College hosts an outrageous celebration of world class music, great local food, beer & wine, a handmade craft fair, and lots of family games and activities. We top it all off with four hot air balloon launches and a spectacular Saturday night balloon glow.

ConBust is a convention put on each spring by students at Smith College. This three-day event provides fans of various geekdoms the opportunity to gather and enjoy their interests as a whole.

What sets ConBust apart from most other sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and/or gaming conventions is its focus on the female members of the participating community. While the various realms of geekdom remain stereotypically male-dominated, ConBust is held to celebrate the work and participation of women amongst these genres.

The Sawmill River Run is a New Year’s Tradition! The road race begins right next to the village common and winds itself through the back roads of a sleepy New England village, past farmland and quiet pastures.

FCPride envisions that Franklin County is a community in which all LGBTQIA youth, adults, & families can enjoy the freedom to live safely, openly, & genuinely, free from discrimination due to race, gender identity, gender expression, & sexual orientation.

One Roof Concert for the Homeless

One Roof is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending homelessness. We produce musical concerts and festivals in order to place families and individuals in permanent homes. Our novel approach enables us to generate funds to meet our mission while simultaneously engaging with the general public and fostering a growing sense of community.

The Montague Soapbox Races, held in Unity Park Turners Falls, is Franklin County's only soapbox derby and is open to everyone from ages 8 to 80! With an open format, the carts can become quite creative.
